Krishi Vigyan Kendra Budh Singh WalaMoga celebrated World Soil Day at KVK Campus on 5th December, 2017. The main aim of organizing this program was to create awareness among the farming community regarding the  importance of soil and water testing in the field of agriculture. About 300 farmers from different villages of Moga district attended this program. Honorable Member of Legislative Assembly DrHarjot Kamal graced this occasion as Chief Guest. Officers from various allied departments such as Department of Agriculture, Department of Horticulture, PEDA, IFFCO, MARKFED etc delivered technical lectures regarding the facilities offered by their institutions. DrAmandeep Singh Brar, Deputy Director (Trg), KVK Moga welcomed the chief guest and enlightened the participants regarding the activities of KVK. He also urged the farmers to get their soil tested and apply fertilizers as per recommendations given in the soil health card. On this occasion staff of KVK Moga delivered lectures on various soil improving techniques. DrHarjot Kamal encouraged all the farmers to strengthen their ties with KVK and asked them to consult experts before using fertilizers, pesticides, insecticides in their field as over dosage of any of these is very harmful for soil health. He also suggested the farmers to adopt organic farming and kitchen garden to fulfill their domestic needs. Soil health cards were also distributed to the farmers on this occasion.
